Autumn Term 2018-19 Starts Thursday 6th of September

School opens for pupils on Thursday the 6th of September. The school will be open for staff meetings with parents and carers on Tuesday the 4th and Wednesday the 5th. Pupils will not have lessons on these days.

Teachers will contact all parents over the two weeks to arrange meetings on Tuesday 04/08/18 and Wednesday 05/09/18. So if you can let us know when you are able to come in for a meeting and we can make the arrangements.

We need all parents and carers to come in so we can meet face to face and go through all the paperwork and forms for the year ahead. It will also be an opportunity for you to meet the new class teachers and find out about lessons and expectations for your child.  The meeting is for both pupils and parents / carers.

Pupils will return to school on Thursday the 6th of September.

This will be the first full day back when lessons will commence 06/09/2018.

School Term Ends Thursday 26th of July

The last day of this Summer term will be Thursday the 26th of July. School will shut for the summer on that day – so we hope you have a great break and will be refreshed and ready to return in the Autumn!

We would like to thank all the students who have worked so very hard over the last 12 months and also thank all the parents and carers for all your support.

Have a wonderful summer, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you back in the next academic year 2018-2019.

Have a nice Half term Break

School closes today for the half term break.

We hope you all have an enjoyable break over the next week and look forward to welcoming everyone back safe and well on Monday the 4th of June.

For Year 11’s it’s important that they are fully focused upon their revision program and study hard for the final few remaining exams.

School Closed – Friday 2nd March

Due to the ongoing weather conditions the school will be closed again today.

The school is very icy and it is still not safe for buses and pedestrians alike to be able access the site.  The roads in and around Nottingham are also icy and dangerous and as police have advised all but essential travel we do not wish anyone to take any unnecessary risks travelling.

We hope you all stay in safe and warm and hope the weather conditions improve over the weekend.

School Closed – Thursday 1st March

Unfortunately due to the current treacherous weather conditions Woodlands school is closed today.

With a large number of both staff and pupils living all across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties it is simply not safe for them to reach the school today.

We apologise for any inconvenience and disruption caused.

We will let you know when the school re opens, so please listen out for messages and check online.

INSET day at Woodlands – 16th February 2018

Woodlands finishes for half term on Thursday the 15th of February, as the school has an INSET day on Friday.

Staff will be training all day so the half term break will finish slightly early. We hope everyone has a nice relaxing holiday.

We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday the 26th of February 2018.

Sport For Champions comes to Woodlands

We are really pleased with the amazing success of the Sport for Champions sports day in school.

We welcomed Eden Francis, the British Olympic shot Putter and Discus thrower to Woodlands on Wednesday the 24th of January.

She helped to organise the sports day in the gym where staff and pupils alike completed a training circuit. It helped to raise over £400 for champions like Eden and also some of the money will go to the school to help buy new sports equipment. So hopefully we will have champions of our own one day!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day an amazing success and especially all those people who sponsored pupils and staff members alike.

Poland Trip 2018

We are currently planning a trip to Krakow, Poland in 2018. We have had a long running partnership with a special school in Krakow and have visited them several times over the last few years. The trips have been very successful and we are keen to let a new generation experience the trip.

We would like to find out if any current key stage 3 pupils would be interested in going on the trip next year. It is likely to be in May or June 2018.

We will cover the majority of the costs of the trip. But we do ask for a non refundable deposit to cover the cost of flights. This is likely to be between £50 and £100.

All the accommodation and food costs will be met by school. If you are concerned about the cost then please contact us as we are happy to arrange payment schedule which does not exclude anyone.

If you or your child would like to know more about the trip please contact Mr Tyler, the International Coordinator.
