The trip to Belgium and France to visit and commemorate the First World War was a great success. All those pupils who were lucky enough to be involved enjoyed the trip and were sorry to have to return to the UK.
We visited the memorial museum at Passchendaele, Tyne Cot cemetery and the Thiepval memorial. As well as many other sites which were affected by the battles of the Somme and Ypres.
The trip was a great success, the trip affected us all and it really brought home the horrors of the First World war. Both staff and pupils were moved by the ceremony of the last post at the Menin Gate.
We are now working on our legacy project to share with the local community all that we have learned about what life was like in the trenches of the First World War.
