Children In Need

Students and staff came together to celebrate and raise money for Children in Need on Friday 19th of November.

We would like to thank all those parents who kindly donated money and helped us to raise lots of money for a worthy cause.

Class 6 raised over £21 and had some great activities to help raise money including one student, who did a sponsored run. Alex who ran over 2 miles or 3.2km and raised a lot of money in the process.

There was also a colouring competition for students in Hub 2. There were some fantastic entrants, but the overall winner was Finlee, well done Finlee!

CQC Inspection of Nottingham City Council

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission will be undertaking a joint inspection of Nottingham City from 8th November – 12th November.

The aim of the inspection is to evaluate how effectively the Nottingham City area:

  • Identifies the needs of children and young people with SEND
  • Meets the needs of these children and young people so that their outcomes and chances of participating fully in society improve.

Woodlands Academy will not be visited as part of this inspection, however, parents and carers of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities can still take part in the inspection and share their experiences by participating in a survey that opened yesterday and will be open until 9th November.

Please see the attached letter for details of how to take part in the survey

Leaves of Southwell – Art Project

Students from Woodlands have been involved with Southwell Minister’s art project – ‘Leaves of Southwell’. Our amazing artworks are now featured in the online gallery as a part of Oakfield School’s virtual Minister tour.

We created our own paints using a range of natural materials to create the paintings. The paintings are inspired by the 13th century carvings in Southwell Minister.

Bring on the Sun and the Sun Cream!

The summer is on its way and we are all looking forward to spending lots of time outside for playtimes and also lessons! However, on really hot days we can’t offer the protection of shade to every pupil so it is incredibly important that pupils bring their own sun cream and hats in to school every day.

We also ask that all pupils wear sun cream to school which is applied before they arrive in the morning as this offers protection during the school day.

We are going to encourage the pupils to reapply a small amount of lotion to key areas before lunchtime.

Please see the attached letter –
